Landscape Design/Build - a complete service

When you hire Horizon to design, estimate, and construct your whole project, you will have only one contractor to deal with. We design and perform all the landscape, irrigation, and lighting work ourselves. We will provide subcontractors for other services if required, yet we coordinate every phase of the project for your convenience and peace of mind.

• Prior to the initial visit with the landscape designer, you will be requested to locate a copy of your property site plan, or survey. This would have been supplied when your house was built or at your closing when you purchased the property. Occasionally, your attorney or your town may also have a copy. This helps to establish existing property lines and enables us to be more precise in locating unique elements of your property.

• The first step in the Landscaping Design/Build process is the initial consultation during which:

1. We will listen to your wishes and needs for the project. We want to share your vision and hear your ideas.
2. We will help you determine your budget and scope of the project.
3. We will review options, possibilities and point out potential problem areas.
4. You will have an opportunity to review our portfolio of projects.
5. We will take further property measurements and plot locations of existing trees and unique elements on your property.

• Using your plot plan or survey we will prepare a landscaping design plan showing all major existing and proposed design elements.

• We will meet with you again to review the proposed design and make adjustments as needed.

• Your input is critical throughout the entire design process. The more information and feedback you provide, the better we can create landscape designs that meet your needs and dreams.

For Smaller Projects. . .

On smaller landscaping design projects, a simple technique for designing is to paint or flag the ground where trees and bushes would be planted and where pathways would be located. This is very helpful to give you a visual idea for proportion and depth. Choosing this simpler design method could save you money; ask if it is right for your project.

Building From Your Design

We are also happy to work from a print you supply. If you choose to use a separate firm for your design process, we will review those plans and bid on your project. We may be able to offer on-site suggestions that could improve your results or save you money.
